Being a teacher

Today at school I was talking with my friends and I told them that I wanted to be a Prep teacher. The response I got was unbelievable... They said to me that I would have to be crazy to want to teach little terrors like that. For me I think that every child is a little treasure and teaching them I would help them to grow up to be better people. My friends had other opinions... They asked me how I would cope if one of them had a bad family situation or anger problems. I said that I would try and help them in every way possible and they just looked at me like I was mad or something.

I have always been like that, it is just a subject I feel very strongly about. My friends should know I am like that by now because last year there was this boy in my grade that everyone picked on. So of course I took him under my wing. His family had been spilt up when he was a little kid and after that he was put with a foster family. I became friends with him even though my friends disagreed because there was just something inside telling me that I should. Anyway I think that you should always follow your heart where ever it may lead you.

Hi Kirstie. I enjoyed reading your post. I too, when I was younger, got teased for sticking up for the kids that got picked on. Don't listen to people. Do as you are doing and follow your heart. You will never regret it. I look forward to reading future posts.

Hi darlin
Well you have had a dream of being a teacher since you were 5 and some people don't work out what they want to do in a lifetime. Remember your Nanna taught you never to judge and to always follow your heart... You are a beautiful little soul... Love ya

Ohhhh...I remember those feelings. I wanted to be a teacher from the time that I was a little girl as well. I remember some friends in high school telling me I was crazy...but I followed my dream & I've never regretted it once. You are indeed lucky, as your mum says, to know just what you want to do in the future.

Hi Kirstie. You sound like a wonderful young lady. I am so proud of you for staying true to yourself. The world needs special and kind people like you. Some day I just know that you will make a difference in someones life and isn't that why we are all? Unfortunetly, some just don't get it.
